Killeen's 2011 P 6'7" Ta'Shaun Thomas (Below) is appropriately looking skyward as his 8 foot baby hook with only a few seconds left sealed the win for his Runnin' Roos. Not too many teams come to Lake Travis and escape with a win, but Coach Jason Fossett's crew snatched the District 25-4A hardware right out from under the Cavs, and on their homecoming night to boot. Lake Travis is one of the area's best atmosphere's for a game. The gym's dimly lit, the crowd's at capacity and whatever the acoustics are it's always LOUD.

The first half saw a nip and tuck battle with the Cavs heading to the locker room with a 29-28 lead. At that point, LT 2010 W Zach Karczewski had 8 points while the rest of the scoring was handled by committee. The Merchant Marine Academy was in the house trying to seal the deal with Karczewski and he didn't disappoint with his solid play and hustle.Thomas had 12 at the half for the Roos.

The 3rd quarter belonged to 2010 gunslinging guard Ja'Corie Baker as the dual football-basketball star lit it up from way downtown, dropping 4 three pointers in the period. In the matter of 2 minutes a close game was now as much as 52-39 in the visitor's favor.

In the 4th a combination of two things happened; Baker and his backcourt mates KEPT SHOOTING the ball at many times 'willy nilly", while LT with Jan Jernberg at the helm is as disciplined a team as anybody made stop after stop and with 2:00 left the game was knotted at 52-52 and the house was rockin'. Ja'Corie Baker didn't get the memo that he should feel intimidated though, and with ice water in his veins went immediately to the other end and swished another 3 pointer from 25 feet out. Once again, LT came back to tie it up. That's when Thomas went to work for the final time on the evening.

The 2011 Post man showed one of his nicest moves of the evening as he received the ball at the freet throw line, backed his defender down with two dribbles and tossed up the game winning baby hook off the backboard and in. Thomas finished with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks on the night, Ja'Corie Baker added 22.

2010 Cole Vucurevish led LT with 14, Karczewski added 12 and 2010 G David Eads had 8 assists. Don't be surprised if these two teams meet in the playoffs as along with Austin LBJ and Kerrville Tivy have to be my Region 4 favorites to get to the Drum
