Last Sunday, the place to be for hoops was Concordia University in Austin as the D1 Nation held it's 2nd Annual Sweet 16 Fall Showcase. San Antonio Reagan made the trip up I-35 and got after it in two of the Showcase's marquee games; vs Bryan High & Pflugerville.  Reagan went 0-2, losing by 11 to Bryan by 11 points and at the buzzer to Pflugerville by 1.  How often do you see not one, but TWO LeBron James Nike campers going head to head in a Central Texas gym as you did when SA Reagan G Tre Demps (Northwestern) & All State PG J. Mychal Reese went head to head.  And who was the best player in that game?  Try 2011 WG Max Yon who was flying around the gym.  He was blocking shots, hitting jumpers, defending & of course throwing down his trademark dunks.

Max & his Pops, Jac had just returned from Colorado Springs the night before and he was all smiles.  He recounted how he loved the Air Force Academy, the geography of the area & the thought of serving his country.  He'd already made a visit to Pacific in Stoackton, CA & had one other official set up (to Tulane).

Today he pulled the trigger and became a Falcon.  Max first played with the Texas D1 Ambassadors back when he was a 7th grader under Coach Edwin Glossin (now an Assistant at Smithson Valley).  He becomes the 4th member of the Texas D1 Ambassadors Class of 2011 to commit, following G Dylan Elias of San Antonio Taft (Northern Colorado), Tre Demps of San Antonio Reagan (Northwestern)  & Deon Mitchell of Pflugerville (Northern Iowa).

Two members of the New Orleans D1 Ambassadors have also recently committed in 2011 6'7" Trevante Drye of Baton Rouge Glen Oaks (Tulane) & 2011 F 6'10" Jernard Jerreau of New Orleans McDonough (Washington). 2011 F 6'5" Donovan Ross of the Mississippi D1 Ambassadors has committed to Southeastern Louisiana in the Southland Conference.

Congratulations to Max & his Family.
