According to a team source, the Chicago Bulls will soon be hiring Adrian Griffin as an assistant coach. The Bulls coaching staff already consists of head coach Tom Thibodeau and assistants Ron Adams and Andy Greer.

"I am very fortunate," Griffin said. "I was just a player two years ago and now I'm a coach. It's very competitive to make an NBA team as a player, but it's even more competitive to become an NBA coach. There are only a few of them on each team."

Throughout his NBA career Griffin played for the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, and Chicago Bulls, averaging 4.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and one steal per game. On February 21, 2008, the Bulls traded Griffin to the Seattle SuperSonics, and after a few months he was traded again, to the Milwaukee Bucks. On October 27, 2008, he was released by the Bucks, but was hired by them as an assistant, where he would work for the next two seasons.

Terry Porter was another candidate for the job, but the Bulls hired Griffin because he played for the Bulls before and they know him very well.
