D-1 Nation traveled to Seguin on Saturday to check out some of the talent in the Lady matadors Classic.
Austin Akins VS O.W. Holmes High School
Akins never looked back after jumping out to an early double digit lead. The Lady Eagles was on fire from downtown as they went 8 for 11 for the game. 2011 F 5'10 Danielle Lofton has really improved her perimeter game. Lofton knocked down five shots from three point land to help the Eagles to victory. Holmes had no answer for 2011 G 5'6 Gloria Diaz. Diaz has a nice smooth game and don't mind shooting the basketball. Diaz finished with 19 points. 2011 G 5'3 Kassie Avila of Holmes has an exceptional game. Kassie made a living at the basket, as she continued to take the Eagles guards straight to the cup. Kassie finished with 24 points and 5 assist.

Seguin VS Smithson Valley
Smithson Valley executed very well throughout the game. Valley showed great poised and attacked every chance they got. Tulane commit 2011 G 5'11 Danielle Blagg of Smithson Valley had a quiet thirteen. Blagg is a versatile player with a high skill level. Emerging prospect 2013 G 5'10 Tabatha Richardson-Smith of Seguin could not be guarded. The true sophomore gave you 22 in the lost to Smithson Valley. Tabatha have great ball handling, passing, and shooting skills. Look for Tabatha to be a nice prospect in the class of 2013.

2011 G 5'2 Alison Salmon showed great skills. Alison notched 10 for the game and served up some great dishes to help get teammates involved. Smithson valley came out in the second half and took a double digit lead on the matadors to put the game out of reach. Seguin lost the third place game to Americas High School out of El Paso. 2011 G 5'6 Vivian Carrasco of Americas have great athleticism with a nice skill set. Vivian was huge part of their win against Seguin.

Austin Akins VS San Antonio LBJ
The silver championship game was a battle. Akins took off with a 10-0 lead early in the first quarter but the Jags came roaring back. 2011 G 5'4 Vanessa Winston have a great game with a high basketball IQ. Winston has excellent ball handling skills with a nice mid range shot. The unsigned senior shows true class along with great leadership. 2014 G 5'8 Recee' Caldwell is a high quality player with a bright future. The D-1 prospect showed superior skills and got to the basket at will. Caldwell will be a high D-1 prospect in the class of 2014.
