We had our first small gathering of the winter as Texas Basketball Inc. spotlighted 8th grade boys. There were several extremely close games, highlighted by some outstanding play.
1. Austin Select
2. Westlake Hoops
3. New Braunfels Avengers
What sets us apart at Texas Basketball Inc. as competition heats up for your tournament dollar is the exposure the kids get. You no longer have to go to Houston, Dallas, San Diego etc to chase the often times mythical "exposure" and recognition. You can get it right here in Austin, TX from Coach Max's Prep Report. We've moved from initially being Local to a Regional service and soon to be a National level report. No matter how big we get, I pledge not to forget our roots of Austin & San Antonio, TX.
So, on that note some of my top performers who will be added to the prospect list in 2014 are as follows:
2014 PG Chase Carlton Westlake Hoops
The savvy PG also led his team in scoring with games of 15, 17, & 15
2014 PG Phillip Shelton New Braunfels Avengers
Shelton was superior at pushing the ball, balancing the floor & had an advanced understanding of how to enter the ball in the post.
2014 P Martin Nwakamma
At the 8th grade level most games are dominated by guards. The exception this weekend was post Martin Nwakamma. He's already developing a couple of nice post moves under the watchful guise of Coach Lance Carter. With games of 14, 14, & 21 points he was a load down low in addition to handling the rebound department. He's following in the footsteps of his brother 2011 Mark Nwakamma who stars for the Texas D-1 Ambassadors and will be one of the most hotly recruited players out of the Cen Tex this coming season.
