Below: 2012 W Christopher Campbell had a breakout high school game tonight with 16 first half points. It couldn't come at a better time for Madison as they need extra offensive weapons before facing a likely regular season rematch v. Pflugerville or an athletic Austin Akins team in the first round of the playoffs. Not sure if it was by design by Madison Coach John Valenzuela to have Campbell out of the post and even doing some ballhandling but there's no doubt he's more comfortable out on the wing and at least on this night, more effective. He certainly causes matchup considerations as a 3rd ballhandler up top.

Tonight's game was a far cry from the emotion filled matchup won by Lee at the buzzer on the night Paul Garnica broke the City of San Antonio scoring record. There was a much more conscious effort to double and even triple Garnica on every possession this evening. Lee was never in this one, as the emotion just wasn't there on Lee's part and Garnica's team mates didn't hit perimeter shots which would have at least cut down on Madison's game plan to run everyone at Garnica. Garnica missed the last game with a tweaked knee, but I did not detect that it still bothers him. He looked quick early but Madison just did a great job of carrying out their game plan.Lee's 2010 P 6'2" Robert McPherson was the lone scoring threat tonight and that came from his relentless work inside and from the high post. He was the game's high scorer and kept plugging away in a game that was lost early on. He finished with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Garnica became noticably slower from the 2nd quarter on. His night was done midway through the 3rd quarter after only 2 made free throws. He's hurt, as his knee is wrapped in an ice bandage.
In addition to Campbell, Madison received solid if not spectacular contributions from 2010 P Tyler Wood, 12 pts & 8 rebounds (UT-San Antonio) and 2010 G Jamaal Johnson, 7 pts & 4 assists (Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo).
