Our main focus here at the D1 Nation is on high school basketball and the youngsters trying to make a name for themselves. However, tonight is the first big night on the college basketball scene as the 2010-11 season goes into full swing. With little happening on the high school scene today, let's get to an update of the Texas D1 Ambassadors & the D1 Nation's top alumni performances tonight.
I'll start with football, where 2011 PG Josiah Monroe, who doubles as a QB for Bastrop. Showing he's a general on the gridiron as well as the hardwood, Monroe led the Bears to a 1st round playoff win over Corsicana. He accounted for an amazing 662 yards of total offense, including 501 yards passing. He's verbally committed to play football for Texas-San Antonio but with signing date for pigskin in February there's still time for a D1 basketball school to swoop in and steal him.
In the NBA last night, Minnesota's Kevin Love had 31 points & 31 rebounds. It's the first time that feat's been accomplished in The League since 1982 when Karl Malone did it. What's Love (from Lake Oswego, OR) got to do with Texas? It was a game against his Portland Legends AAU team with Kyle Singler (Duke) on Easter of 2005 that put the Texas D1 Ambassadors on the National map. Despite having the two future NBA players our guys had them down 23 points at half time, coasting to a 14 point win.

San Francisco's Doolin (l) played 30 minutes in his first game as a true freshman, while North Carolina soph John Henson was Chairman of the Boards with 17 rebounds.

As you can see their is a growing list of players from this area who are not only earning scholarships, but becoming serious contributors at the Division One level. It has been my pleasure to coach them.-Coach Max Ivany
