Bryan High School went on the road and lost it's season opener to a tough Klein Forest team, 81-73.  The Vikings were shorthanded with a couple of grade issues and were without their yet to arrive football players.  2012 J Mychal Reese was in mid season form though as the two time All State PG scored 40 points for his father, Head Coach John Reese.

Since he was 10 years old, Young Reese has carried the pressure of a grown up as he was acknowledged as the #1 player in the country. Only recently has he "dropped", to a mere #6 on the recruiting Richter Scale.  Perhaps no other player has received such scrutiny as Reese who has carried this mantle with grace and dignity in excess of what most adults are capable of.

Two years running he has been the ONLY underclassman to have earned Texas 5A All State recognition.  A remarkable feat!  This year I sense an even more intense laser focus.  Expect the elite PG who is very unselfish, to score even more and begin to put the Bryan Vikings on his back.  There aren't many accoloades left for this schoolboy who has two years remaining to play.  I fully expect him to be right there when all is said and done with prestigious senior all star games under his belt.  The Big Prize will be the McDonald's All American game.

The lefty has great court vision, a high motor defensively, athleticism, an explosive first step...and uh oh...look out folks...a vastly improved perimeter shot.  Every day high major schools from all over the country (ACC, SEC, BIG XII, PAC-10) litter the Bryan High practices hoping to land him.  All the while young Reese remains, polite focused and rarely changes expression as he works on his basketball craft.-Coach Max Ivany
