Time was, not long ago (as late as 2005) that 3-4 players were signed to Division One scholarships from the Austin-San Antonio area. When college coaches came to Texas, it began and ended in Houston and Dallas for most of them. Two things have happened. One, is that our metro area is growing and more kids are training hard to be basketball players. The second, is that it is all about exposure.
I am proud to play a small part in the increased number of players who are getting their just due. Starting with our first graduating class in 2006 and inclusive to the players who are signing their letters of intent today the Texas D1 Ambassadors, New Orleans D1 Ambassadors & the Mississippi D1 Ambassadors have had the privelege of 80 plus of our alumni gone on to earn D1 scholarships. Countless others have also moved on to D2, D3 & Junior College. I've been blessed to have coached almost every one of them at one time or another.
The last two years Coach Max's Prep Report has gained a following of over 100 Division One coaches and countless parents and players in the area. it is the ONLY service that is nationally recognized that spotlights the Cen Tex. In addition to followers coast to coast in the USA & Canada, we also have 30-50 international followers daily on every continent. Countries such as Australia, England, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Spain, Nigeria are regular followers. The Austin-San Antonio player is no longer a closely guarded secret. I thank all of you for reading my report and believing in my evaluations; be you a college coach, high school coach, parent or player.
Without further ado, here is our Class of 2011 early signees.
Dylan Cox (l) of Cedar Park. The hard nosed 6'4" combo guard has committed to Army. He spent 5 years in the D1 organization.
Tre Demps (r) of San Antonio Reagan. A 6'3" scoring PG. he has committed to Northwestern in the Big Ten. He spent two seasons with the Texas D1 Ambassadors
Below (l) Trevante Drye, a 6'7" P from Baton Rouge Glen Oaks (LA). Drye has committed to Tulane in Conference USA. he spent one season with Texas D1 & this year with our new Orleans D1 crew.
Below (r) Dylan Elias from San Antonio Taft. The 6'0" PG joins Northern Colorado in the Big Sky Conference. He has been a 4 year veteran of Texas D1.
Below (l) Zaveral Jackson of Hammond St. Thomas Aquinas (LA). Cat quick 5'11" PG heads to Murray State of the Missouri Valley Conference. He is a one year veteran with New Orleans D1.
Below (r) Jernard Jarrou of New Orleans McDonough #35 (LA) has committed to Washington in the PAC-10. The 6'10" shotblocker has wing skills. He's a one year veteran with New Orleans D1.
Below (l) Jake Kocher of Austin St. Michael's. A prolific score the 6'2" shooting guard has committed to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the Southland Conference. He's a 4 year veteran of Texas D1.
Below (r) Deon Mitchell of Pflugerville. A scoring PG, Mitchell has committed to Sweet 16 program, Northern Iowa. He is a 2 year veteran of Texas D1.
Below (l) Donovan Ross of Ridgeland (MS). Ross, a 6'5" bruising forward has committed to Southeast Louisiana. He's a one year veteran of the Mississippi D1 Ambassadors (our inaugural campaign in MS).
Below (r) Max Yon of San Antonio Reagan. Yon has passed over a dozen schools to serve his country at the Air Force Academy. The bouncy wing should have an instant impact there. Yon was a 2 year veteran of Texas D1 when he was younger and came back home for this summer's July recruiting period.
Below (l) Josiah Monroe of Bastrop. The 5'9" PG has verbally committed to Texas-San Antonio in the Southland Conference to play football (their early signing period is in February). The two sport star would be a heck of a basketball catch too. He's a one year veteran of Texas D1.
Below (r) Karim York of Del Valle. The 6'7" swingman has committed to Santa Clara in the West Coast Conference. I only had the opportunity to coach him in one major tournament with Texas D1, but he shone when I did.
Stay tuned as we go forward in the spring signing period which begins in April. I expect another 5-6 players from the Texas D1 Ambassadors to sign at that time.
